Aÿ is one of the best-known wine villages in Champagne. It lies in the Grande Vallée de la Marne, on the right bank of the Marne opposite Épernay, in the Marne department. Since 2016 Aÿ, together with Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Bisseuil, has formed the commune of Aÿ-Champagne.
- Cru: Aÿ has Grand Cru status.
- Vineyards: the south-facing slopes on a chalk subsoil are planted mainly with pinot noir, alongside chardonnay. Pinot noir from Aÿ is known for its power, ripeness and structure; the village also produces red Coteaux Champenois.
- Producers: Aÿ is home to major houses such as Bollinger, Deutz and Ayala, and to family houses such as Henri Giraud, Henri Goutorbe, Geoffroy, Collery and Malard. Smaller growers such as Pascal Hénin, Hénin Delouvin and Richard Fliniaux also make their champagne here.
