André Roger is a family estate in Aÿ, where the Roger family has been rooted for five generations. The wine business dates back to 1876, when Alexis started it; in 1968 André and Alice created the André Roger brand. Since 1995 Jean-Pol has expressed the Pinot Noir of Aÿ in cuvées with strong personality, and in 2007 he and Marie-Hélène opened the estate to export.
Vineyards
- 5.21 hectares of Grand Cru in Aÿ, spread over 19 lieux-dits, including Le Chêne, La Chambre aux Loups, Champ Bouvart and Faussart.
- The focus is on Pinot Noir; the vines are 10 to 52 years old.
Methods
- A quarter of the wines pass through oak foudres; neither foudre nor malolactic fermentation is compulsory: "the wine decides for itself".
- Ageing of 15 to 36 months, with dosage using a natural liqueur.
- Both blended cuvées and single-parcel cuvées.
Champagnes The range includes Nuance de Noirs, Grande Réserve, Grand Rosé, Aÿ Grand Cru, the Vieilles Vignes series (NV, Extra Brut and Rosé) and Eclipse N°10.
