Le Mesnil-sur-Oger lies in the south of the Côte des Blancs, between Oger and Vertus, south of Épernay (Marne department). The village has Grand Cru status and is regarded as one of the most renowned Chardonnay villages in the world.
The vineyards lie on the eastern slope of the Côte, on belemnite chalk. Chardonnay is virtually the only grape. The champagnes are known for their taut acidity, minerality and long life; they are often closed in their youth and develop slowly.
- Producers: Salon makes exclusively Blanc de Blancs from Le Mesnil here, and its sister house Delamotte is based here. Also Pierre Péters, Pierre Moncuit, Guy Charlemagne, Launois and many others.
- Notable: Krug makes the Clos du Mesnil here from a walled vineyard in the middle of the village.
