Champagne Pertois-Moriset
Champagne house in Champagne.
Champagne Pertois-Moriset is an independent family estate (récoltant-manipulant) in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the Côte des Blancs.
- History: Yves Pertois and Janine Moriset founded the brand in 1951. The estate is still run by their granddaughter Cécile and her husband Vincent.
- Vineyards and terroir: The estate covers around 19 to 20 hectares: about 12 hectares of Chardonnay in the Côte des Blancs, with grand cru sites in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Cramant and Chouilly, and about 7 hectares of Pinot Noir on the southern slopes near Épernay.
- Approach and style: Each vineyard is vinified separately, often in oak, to preserve the chalky character of each site. Malolactic fermentation is blocked. The house favours long lees ageing and very low dosages, often extra brut or nature. The estate is HVE-certified and has converted to organic farming.
- Cuvées: Les Quatre Terroirs Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is the flagship blend. There are also single-vineyard wines such as Le Mesnil, Les Jutées and Les Jeamprins, vintage wines and a Spécial Club as a member of the Club Trésors de Champagne.
