Pierre Péters is a prestigious champagne house in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger (Côte des Blancs), known for its elegant Blancs de Blancs made from Chardonnay. The house combines a long family tradition with modern precision, resulting in wines with high minerality and finesse.
History
The Péters family has been growing grapes in the region for six generations. The adventure began in 1858 when Gaspard Péters from Luxembourg married a local winegrower. Camille Péters vinified the first cuvée in 1919, and after his father's death Pierre Péters took the reins in 1944, followed by his son François in 1967. Since 2008 the estate has been run by the oenologist Rodolphe Péters, who has further strengthened its quality and international profile.
Vineyards
The estate manages approximately 19 hectares of vineyards, exclusively planted with Chardonnay. The plots are located in Grand Cru villages such as Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant. The soil consists of chalk, which ensures excellent drainage and a distinctive mineral taste. The average age of the vines is over 30 years, and the family uses massal selection for genetic diversity.
Approach
The harvest is entirely by hand with strict selection. The must is pressed slowly to obtain the finest juice. Fermentation and ageing take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruity and mineral profiles. The wine is aged on the fine lees, with malolactic fermentation taking place fully for extra finesse. The non-vintage Cuvée de Réserve contains wines from more than 20 different vintages.
