Champagne André Robert is a family business in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger (Côte des Blancs), founded in 1962 by André Robert, who laid the foundations in 1960 by purchasing the current estate with its 19th-century chalk cellars. The fifth generation, Claire Robert and her husband Jean-Baptiste Denizart, have continued to run the estate since 2019.
Production revolves around 14 hectares of vineyards (sometimes stated as 65 plots across seven villages), most of them in Mesnil-sur-Oger, with additional land in, among others, Montigny-sous-Châtillon. The wine style is characterised by the use of Burgundy oak casks (pièces) for vinification and ageing, the blocking of malolactic fermentation for freshness and structure, and long ageing times (3 to 8 years), with the champagnes known for their low dosage and character as Blanc de Blancs.
Some core cuvées are:
- Les Jardins du Mesnil: 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru from Mesnil-sur-Oger, mostly extra-brut.
- Collection d’Auteur: The top cuvée, a Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru with long ageing (up to 8 years in the cellar).
- Terre du Mesnil: A Brut that ages for 4 to 7 years in casks.
- Les Vignes de Montigny: An Extra Brut that stands out through the use of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier from the Marne Valley.
