Champagne Bliard-Moriset is a wine house located in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs, founded around 1900 by Georges Moriset. The estate has been managed for five to six generations; the current name arose in the 1960s when Georges’ daughter Annick married Michel Bliard. As of 2026 the business is run by Jean-Loup Bliard, assisted by his cousin Aurélie, and was officially founded on 1 January 2002 as a Société civile d'exploitation agricole.
The vineyards cover approximately 3 to 6 hectares and lie on grand cru soils of chalk and limestone. The grape varieties consist exclusively of Chardonnay, with an average vine age of 40 years. The vines are grown according to the 'Agriculture Raisonnée' method (balanced farming), with the harvest done by hand and taking account of the environment and sustainability.
The approach includes vinification in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels, with malolactic fermentation for the white wines. After fermentation follows mechanical riddling (1/8 to 1/4 turn) and ageing on the lecques for at least 24 months (or longer for the millésime and La Belle Bleue). Disgorgement is done by freezing (-25°C), and the bottles are not filtered and not fined. Annual production volume is around 25,000 to 35,000 bottles.
The range consists of Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru champagnes, mainly from Chardonnay:
- Brut Nature: Grand Cru, zero dosage.
- Brut: Grand Cru, standard dosage.
- Millésime: Grand Cru, vintage, aged at least 24 months.
- La Belle Bleue: Iconic Grand Cru, aged at least 5 years, 45% reserve wines, characterised by butter and citrus notes.
- Brut Rosé: Premier Cru, a blend.
Visitors can visit the chalk cellars, the press house and the vinification and enjoy tastings by appointment. The location is 2 rue du Grand Mont, 51190 Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
