Rilly-la-Montagne is a wine village in the Marne department (51), on the northern flank of the Montagne de Reims, a short distance south of Reims, in the Grande Montagne.
- Cru: Rilly-la-Montagne has Premier Cru status.
- Vineyards: the vineyards lie on the north-facing slopes below the forests of the Montagne, on limestone. Pinot noir, chardonnay and meunier are all three planted.
- Character: the champagnes combine freshness and tension with the structure of pinot noir.
- Producers: the village has many vignerons. The best-known house is Vilmart & Cie; those working here also include Bouxin & Fils, Delaunois-Chanez, Didier Herbert, Stéphane Herbert, François Lecompte, Henri Chauvet, J&H Fagot, Michel Fagot, J. Lassalle, Jean Goût, Le Bourgeois, Philippe Brugnon, Roger Manceaux, Veuve Maurice Lepitre and Yves Couvreur.
A railway tunnel on the Reims-Épernay line runs beneath the Montagne near Rilly.
