Champagne J. Lassalle is a family business based in Rilly-la-Montagne (Montagne de Reims), founded in 1942 by Jules and Olga Lassalle. The house is unique in that it is currently run by three generations of women: Olga, her daughter Chantal and granddaughter Angeline (with the next generation, Grâce, already involved).
History and Winemaking
- Family story: After Jules's death, Olga and Chantal took over the business; Angeline has taken up the torch and remains true to Jules's style.
- Récoltant Manipulant: The champagnes are made exclusively from grapes from its own vineyards, which guarantees complete control over quality.
- Location: The production address is 29-31 rue de Reims, 51500 Rilly-la-Montagne. Production recently moved from Chigny-les-Roses to this location to take advantage of historic cellars more than 300 years old.
- Sustainability: The vines are grown in agriculture raisonnée (balanced farming) with respect for biodiversity.
Vineyards
- Area: The estate owns 16 hectares of vineyard.
- Classification: All plots are classified Premier and Grand Cru.
- Grape varieties: The vineyard is dominated by Meunier (52%), supplemented by Pinot Noir (22%) and Chardonnay (26%). This reflects founder Jules Lassalle's preference for expressive Meunier aromas.
- Age: The vines are on average between 35 and 55 years old.
- Production: The house produces about 150,000 bottles per year.

- Cuvées: The range includes Cuvée Préférence Brut, Cuvée Rosé Brut, Cuvée Blanc de Blancs, Cuvée Angeline and Cuvée Club Trésors, among others.
