Champagne Le Bourgeois is a family-run business based in Rilly-la-Montagne (Marne, France), founded in 1935 from the marriage of the Norman farmer Albert Le Bourgeois and the daughter of a champagne maker. The estate is currently run by four generations: Patrice Le Bourgeois and his great-grandson Baptiste Warnan. The legal entity is the EARL Champagne Le Bourgeois, established on 1 February 1991, with capital of €7,500 and a team of 3 to 5 employees.
The vineyards and historic buildings (dating back to the 16th century) are located in the charming village of Rilly-la-Montagne. The estate has held the HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) label since 2019 and follows integrated viticulture (raisonnée) with the cessation of weed control and thorough observation of the soil. The grape varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier are cultivated, with the terroir of Rilly-la-Montagne particularly suited to Pinot Noir.
The winemaking includes complete control over the vinification process, including the ageing of the liqueur in barrels. The champagnes are marked by the family coat of arms: d'azur au chevron d'or accompagné de trois molettes d'éperon d'or. The range includes various cuvées, including Cuvée Tradition, Cuvée Prestige, Rosé, Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs and Ratafia. A specific Blanc de Noirs is also offered in a "Cru de France" bottle with a unique shape.
