Chouilly lies in the Marne department (51), directly east of Épernay, at the northern entrance to the Côte des Blancs. It is the first Grand Cru village you come across when travelling from Épernay along the Côte des Blancs.
- Cru: Chouilly has Grand Cru status.
- Vineyards: the vineyards lie on the chalk soil of the Côte des Blancs and are planted predominantly with chardonnay, partly on the slopes of the Butte de Saran and partly on the plain towards the Marne.
- Character: chardonnay from Chouilly gives somewhat rounder and fruitier champagnes than that of Cramant or Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, with the typical freshness of the chalk.
- Producers: Chouilly is home to Nicolas Feuillatte, one of the largest champagne brands. Those working here also include Legras & Haas, Pierre Legras, Roland Champion, Michel Genet, Hostomme, Cyril Banchet, Daviaux Sébastien, Marcel Moineaux, Juliette Pétret and Castelnau.
