Charly-sur-Marne lies on the Marne in the Aisne department, downstream of Château-Thierry, in the western part of the Vallée de la Marne. The commune has no cru status.
The vineyards lie on the slopes along the river, on clay-rich and sandy soils. Here Pinot Meunier is the dominant grape: it buds later and is therefore more resistant to spring frost. The champagnes are fruity, supple and approachable.
- Producers: Charly-sur-Marne is home to Baron-Fuenté, Bedel, Christian Naudé, Doré Léguillette, Fallet Dart and Léguillette-Romelot, among others. They are predominantly family businesses that process their own grapes.
