Cumières lies on the right bank of the Marne, just west of Hautvillers and opposite Épernay, in the Grande Vallée de la Marne (Marne department). The village has Premier Cru status.
- Vineyards: the slopes face due south and are among the earliest-ripening in Champagne; the harvest often begins here first. Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay grow on a subsoil of chalk with marl and clay.
- Character: the wines are ripe, full and fruity. Cumières is also known for its still red Coteaux Champenois.
- Producers: Laval-Louïs, Vadin-Plateau, Daniel Etienne, Marizy and Philippe Martin, among others, make champagne here.
