History:‌ The champagne house goes back to 1765 when Joseph Plateau bought the first vineyards in Cumières and founded the Maison Plateau. In 1958 the name was changed to Champagne Vadin-Plateau after the marriage of Yvette Plateau and Guy Vadin. Today the ninth generation is led by Yann Vadin (since 2012) and his sister Aurélie, who continue the family tradition.

Vineyards: The operation covers 7 hectares spread over seven villages, including Cumières (premier cru), Ay, Pourcy, Hautvillers, Damery, Venteuil and Châtillon-sur-Marne. The vineyards have a chalk soil and are oriented south/south-east, which provides a warm microclimate. The average age of the vines is 35 years, with recent purchases also in Avize (grand cru).

Working methods: Vadin-Plateau takes a biodynamic and organic approach, without chemical products. The vinification is minimalist: use of indigenous yeast, no malolactic fermentation, no filtration or cold stabilisation, and sulphite levels as low as possible. Some champagnes have a slight pink glow because they are not decolourised. The house style highlights the terroir through millésime champagnes and two main ranges: the Gamme Naturelle and the Gamme Parcellaire.

Chêne la Butte (millésime, including 2012).
Ovalie (millésime, including 2012).
Aurélié (millésime, including 2016).
Various pure Pinot Meunier varieties and Rosé champagnes.

Contact: The estate is located at 12 Rue de la Coopérative, 51480 Cumières. Visitors can come for wine sales, tastings and walks in the cellars, open from Monday to Saturday.
