Vert-Toulon lies in the valley of the Petit Morin, on the border between the Côte des Blancs and the Sézannais (Marne department). The commune has no cru status.
Within the Petit Morin wine area, where Meunier and Chardonnay are grown in roughly equal measure, Vert-Toulon stands out for a clear preference for Chardonnay. The more westerly villages in the valley are much more focused on Meunier.
- Character: fresh, fruity champagnes, with Chardonnay as the backbone.
- Producers: Fabrice Desanlis, Hervé Brisson, Jérôme Brisson-Bazin and Yveline Prat are based here.
The Petit Morin valley is one of the lesser-known corners of Champagne, with small villages surrounded by vineyards, woodland and marshland.
