Mailly-Champagne lies on the northern flank of the Montagne de Reims, between Ludes and Verzenay, south of Reims (Marne department). The village has Grand Cru status.
- Vineyards: the slopes face largely north, on chalk. Pinot Noir is by far the most important grape.
- Character: because of the cool aspect, the champagnes are firm, structured and fresh, with depth and good ageing potential.
- Producers: the best-known name is the Mailly Grand Cru cooperative, which processes only grapes from the village itself. Ernest Remy, Christian Muller, J.P. Secondé, Lucien Roguet and Michel Decotte, among others, are also based here.
