Gyé-sur-Seine lies in the Aube department, in the Barséquanais, the valley of the Seine in the Côte des Bar, south of Bar-sur-Seine. The village has no cru classification.
- Vineyards: the slopes lie on Kimmeridgian calcareous clay and marl, comparable to the soils further south in Chablis. Pinot noir is the dominant grape in this part of the Aube.
- Character: the champagnes are ripe and fruity, but thanks to the soil also mineral and fresh.
- Producers: the family house Fluteau, one of the older champagne houses of the Aube, is based here. Thierry Fluteau became a récoltant-manipulant in 2003 and since then has worked only with grapes from the family's own vineyards in the Côte des Bar. The house ferments in stainless steel and makes, among others, a blanc de noirs made exclusively from pinot noir and a rosé de saignée.
