Guy Préaut is a family estate of récoltants-manipulants in Gyé-sur-Seine, in the Côte des Bar in the south of Champagne. The family has been winegrowing for seven generations and has passed on its knowledge for some 140 years; today the house is run by Alexandra and Thierry Préaut.
Vineyards The 12 hectares are spread over four communes on clay-limestone soil: 10 hectares of Pinot Noir and 2 hectares of Chardonnay, with an average vine age of 20 years. The estate works without fertilisers or pesticides, tills the soil mechanically and is certified VDC and HVE level 3.
Approach The family controls every step itself: hand harvesting, slow pressing on the day of picking, vinification and sales, with as few intermediaries as possible.
Champagnes
