Gueux is a village in the Marne department (51), just west of Reims, in the Reims: Vesle & Ardre terroir. It has no cru status.
- Location: Gueux lies on the plain of the Vesle on the edge of the Petite Montagne de Reims. The village is also known for the former Reims-Gueux motor-racing circuit, whose grandstands can still be seen along the road.
- Vineyards: the vineyards are modest in size and lie partly on sandy soils over limestone. Meunier is the main grape.
- Producers: Gueux is world-famous thanks to Jérôme Prévost and his estate La Closerie, which specialises in meunier from a single vineyard, Les Béguines. His champagnes have put meunier on the map as a serious, terroir-driven grape.
