Champagne Mourey-Dumangin is a grower brand in Ludes, in the Montagne de Reims. Damien Mourey, heir to family know-how handed down from father to son, created the brand in 2007 from the family estate in Chigny-les-Roses.
Vineyards
He farms 4.5 hectares of premier cru vineyards in Ludes, Chigny-les-Roses and Rilly-la-Montagne, planted with meunier, pinot noir and chardonnay. Harvesting is done by hand, with respect for the environment.
Approach
Damien Mourey makes both single-variety cuvées and blends, and likes to add reserve wines kept in oak foudres to his blends.
Champagnes
- Tradition: a blend of the three grape varieties, kept three years in the cellar after bottling.
- Réserve: eight years in the cellar before release.
- Rosé: the Tradition with added red wine.
- Blanc de Blancs: 100% chardonnay.
- Also a Demi-Sec and a Millésime 2008.
