Champagne J.M. Rigot is a family business based in Binson-et-Orquigny, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, founded in 1963 by Jean-Marie and Christiane Rigot. It is currently led by Valérie and David Quatrevaux, who took over the business in 1992, with their son Gauthier Quatrevaux as oenologist.
History and Terroir
- The founders produced their first champagnes in 1964 and expanded in 1980 by taking over the farm of Jean-Marie's parents, Édouard and Marcelle Rigot.
- The vineyards lie on argilo-calcaire slopes and are managed according to a sustainable approach (as evidenced by the Haute Valeur Environnementale label).
- The grape varieties are Meunier (fruity and supple, characteristic of the Marne valley), Pinot Noir (powerful) and Chardonnay (fine and delicate).
Winemaking
- The entire harvest is pressed and fermented by the business itself in stainless steel cuves and oak barrels.
- The champagnes age for several months in its own cellars, with an emphasis on authenticity and respect for the soil.
- Cellar visits are possible by appointment (Monday to Saturday 09:00-12:00 and 14:00-17:00, Sunday 09:00-12:00) in a flower-filled setting.
