Champagne Diogène Tissier & Fils is a family house in Chavot-Courcourt, close to Épernay, founded in 1931 by grandfather Diogène Tissier. Diogène and Juliette had nine children; today grandson Vincent (third generation) and his wife Nathalie carry on the house, and their daughter Margaux is preparing to join them.
Vineyards The vineyard lies mainly in Courcourt, in the commune of Chavot, known for its sunny slopes. The house is moving towards reasoned, plot-by-plot viticulture; chemical weedkillers are no longer used. Pruning, tying, disbudding, trellising and harvesting are done by hand by the family itself.
Approach Every stage, from press to shipping, takes place in the house's own cellars. A traditional press gives clear juices; vinification and ageing take place in tanks or in oak barrels and Champagne foudres. Riddling is done on pupitres or mechanically, and dosage is moderate.
