History: Maison de vignerons Champagne Chassenay d’Arce was founded in 1956 in Ville-sur-Arce by five pioneers. The house works on a cooperative model based on collaboration and solidarity; today its members comprise 130 families and four generations of winegrowers.
Vineyards and Terroir: The vineyards cover 315 hectares spread over 14 villages along the river Arce in the Côte des Bar. The terroir is characterised by a Kimmeridgian (marly) soil type and a mild climate close to Burgundy. The grape varieties are diverse, with Pinot Noir dominant, complemented by Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Blanc.
Approach: The winegrowers practise culture raisonnée (integrated viticulture) and are the first certified Champagne house for Vignerons Engagés, a label for sustainability and social responsibility (CSR). Vinification follows the traditional méthode champenoise with ageing in the cellars.
Champagnes: The range includes various cuvées, including:
- Cuvée Première (fresh basic cuvée)
- Sélection Blanche
- Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (single-varietal)
- Confidences (more complex, selected cuvées)
- Expression and Confidences Rosé
- Audace (biodynamic)
