Briaux Lenique is a récoltant-manipulant in Mardeuil, in the Vallée de la Marne, three kilometres from Épernay. The brand was founded in 1965 by Pol Briaux and Christiane Lenique; today their daughters Nathalie and Stéphanie, who changed careers at forty, run the estate.
Vineyards
- 4 hectares spread over 21 parcels on clay-limestone slopes around Mardeuil.
- Plantings: half Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir.
- No herbicides, soil worked with ploughs and in-row cultivators; certified VDC and HVE.
Methods
- Hand picking with strict selection, pressing in a pneumatic press.
- Parcel-by-parcel vinification in small stainless steel tanks of 10 to 22 hectolitres, with the must moved by gravity.
Champagnes Seven cuvées, each mainly expressing one of the three grape varieties, including Tradition, Les Semons (Jury Prize and Public Prize at the Jeunes Talents du Champagne 2020), Rosé, Blanc de Blancs and Perle de Craie Millésime.
