Champagne Brice is an independent family business based in Bouzy, a Grand Cru village in the Montagne de Reims, with roots going back to 1684. The current ninth, tenth and eleventh generations run the estate, with René Brice starting modern production in 1945 and Jean-Paul Brice establishing the house style as a négociant in 1994. Today the cellars are run by Remi and Jean-René Brice, with Christophe Constant as oenologist since 2019.
The vineyards cover 12 hectares, of which 8 hectares are in the Grand Cru commune of Bouzy itself. The rest is spread over other Grand Crus such as Aÿ, Cramant and Verzenay, and own plots in the Aube (Loches-sur-Ource). The estate follows a strict organic policy (certified since 2023) and has been awarded the HVE 3 label. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinification takes place without malolactic fermentation, with an emphasis on low dosage to preserve freshness and expression of terroir.
Production of approximately 100,000 bottles a year comprises a range of Grand Cru cuvées:
- Héritage: Blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay.
- Bouzy Grand Cru: Exclusively from Bouzy (80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay).
- Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru: 100% Pinot Noir from Bouzy.
- Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru: 100% Chardonnay.
- Le Poteau: A remarkable single-plot Blanc de Noirs from 2019.
- Bouzy Rouge: A still red wine from Coteaux Champenois, raised in oak barrels.
- Héritage Rosé: A rosé made by adding red wine from Bouzy.
The champagnes are aged in limestone pits on Rue Gambetta in Bouzy, with a minimum of two years' ageing for blends and three years for Grand Crus. The house style is characterised by fresh, fruity profiles and a strong focus on the individuality of the terroirs, with the wine distributed exclusively through the hospitality trade and specialist retailers.
