Prouilly is a wine village in the Marne department (51), in the Massif de Saint-Thierry, the hill country north-west of Reims. The village has no cru status.
- Vineyards: the vineyards of the Massif de Saint-Thierry lie on soils of clay and sand over limestone. Meunier and pinot noir are the main grapes, complemented by chardonnay.
- Character: the champagnes are fruity and juicy, often with a fresh, somewhat earthy touch from the sandy soils.
- Producers: those working in Prouilly include Hubert Potaufeux, Malingre-Truchon and Roger Legros. The Goulard family estate is also based here.
The village lies on the tourist champagne route through the Massif de Saint-Thierry and the Ardre valley.
