Champagne Hubert Potaufeux is a family business based in Prouilly, in the heart of the Massif de Saint-Thierry in the Marne region. The current owners are Natacha and Hubert Potaufeux, who run the estate after its takeover by their father, Hubert Sr., in 1988.
The history of the estate goes back to 1952, when Raymond Potaufeux, father of the current owner, began growing grafted plants. In 1956 he planted his first vineyard of 10 ares at the site "Les Narcevignes". In 1988 Hubert Potaufeux took over the business and expanded the small holding. The estate now covers 2.48 hectares spread over 17 plots around the village of Prouilly. The vineyards lie in an area with an average annual temperature of 10°C and annual rainfall of 550 to 700 mm, which is ideal for the growth of the three traditional Champagne grape varieties: Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The estate is known for its organic farming (Agriculture Biologique), using ecological growing methods to respect the environment and biodiversity. Hubert Potaufeux offers both cellar visits and tastings, during which visitors learn more about champagne production. It is also possible to visit the cooperative by appointment.
The champagne house produces seven exceptional cuvées, including:
- Sélection Blanc de Blancs
- Cuvée Vieilles Vignes
- Brut Rosé
- Sélection Demi-Sec
- Sélection Brut Prestige
- Sélection Brut Millésimé
In addition to champagne, the estate also offers chambres d'hôtes (guest accommodation), such as the Symphonie, Chardonnay and Tradition rooms, located on the farm in Prouilly. The contact details are: 9 rue Haute du Petit Moulin, 51140 Prouilly, France.
