Baye is a small village in the Marne department, in the valley of the Petit Morin, south of Épernay and west of the southern Côte des Blancs. The village has no cru classification.
The Vallée du Petit Morin is a quiet part of Champagne, where meunier and chardonnay together make up most of the plantings. Besides chalk and clay, the soils also contain flint (silex), which can give the wines a fresh, mineral note. The champagnes are generally fruity and approachable.
In Baye, the growers Daniel Collin and Yves Jacques, among others, make champagne from their own grapes.
