Bassuet is a wine village in the Marne department (51), in the Vitryat, the small wine area around Vitry-le-François. It lies north-east of Vitry and is regarded as one of the most important wine villages of the Coteaux Vitryats. Bassuet has no cru status.
- Vineyards: the vineyards of the Vitryat lie on chalk and are planted predominantly with chardonnay. In the landscape, arable fields and long strips of vineyard on the slopes alternate.
- Character: chardonnay from Bassuet is known for a fresh, mineral expression.
- Producers: various wine houses are based in the village, including Bernard Lonclas, L'Hoste Père & Fils, Oudart-Ortillon and Bolieu, which makes a blanc de blancs. Every July, the Champagne Vitryat wine festivals take place in and around Bassuet.
