Richardot is a family estate in Loches-sur-Ource, in the Côte des Bar. In 1946 Jean Richardot set up a wine-growing business in Essoyes, alongside a pressing service for neighbouring growers. His nephew Jackie expanded the pressing activity and in the mid-1980s built a larger building in the neighbouring village of Loches-sur-Ource. His son Jean-Paul took the step to the estate's own cuvées: the first bottles of Champagne Richardot were sold in 1988. The fourth generation is now on board, with Eugène in charge of vineyard and vinification, together with Augustin and Emma.
Vineyards The estate farms 12 hectares within a 6 km radius of its cellars, mainly in Essoyes. On the marl and clay-limestone soils, Pinot Noir accounts for 85% of production, the rest being Chardonnay; a little Pinot Blanc has recently been planted too. The estate has been HVE certified since 2016 and harvests strictly by hand.
Method Whole bunches are pressed in pneumatic presses; alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The Tradition ages for at least 24 months sur lattes, the Prestige (cuvée juice only) for at least 36 months.
