Champagne Michel Falmet is a family estate in Rouvres-les-Vignes, in the Côte des Bar. Michel and Colette took over the family estate in 1970 and built up their vineyard; since 2004 their daughter Corinne and her husband Laurent have brought fresh energy. Laurent selects the grapes, while Corinne handles pressing and vinification.
Vineyards
The vineyard lies on the clay-limestone soils typical of the Côte des Bar and is planted with pinot noir, chardonnay and meunier. The estate is certified HVE and VDC.
Approach
The grapes are pressed gently in a Coquard press with an inclined tray, respecting the plot selection. The wines are aged in demi-muids and in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
Champagnes
The range comprises Tradition Brut and Tradition Demi-Sec, Réserve Brut (aged in demi-muid), a Rosé Brut partly aged in barrel, Perle de Noirs, Perle de Blancs, Cœur de Rouvres, a Millésime 2017 and Histoire Livre 2: a blanc de noirs from 2012 and 2013 pinot noir, released in 486 bottles.
