Champagne Legrand-Latour
Champagne house in Champagne.
Champagne Legrand-Latour is a small family estate in Fleury-la-Rivière, in the Vallée de la Marne, run by grower Thibault Legrand.
- History: For a long time the family supplied its grapes to a local cooperative. Thibault Legrand, son of Patrice Legrand, returned to the estate in 2007 and took over the family business in 2012.
- Vineyards and terroir: The estate covers about 4 hectares, planted mainly with pinot meunier, complemented by pinot noir and chardonnay. The vineyards have been converted to biodynamic farming, with certification in 2019.
- Approach and style: The wines are made without additives and age in an underground cellar dug by Thibault's father. Must from the following vintage is used for the second fermentation. Each cuvée comes from plots with the same geological subsoil, and the names refer to it.
- Cuvées: Notable is Campanien, a blanc de noirs made entirely from old-vine pinot meunier on clay-limestone soils.
