Champagne Leclère-Torrens is a family-run business based in Crouttes-sur-Marne, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne Ouest (Hauts-de-France), about 62 km from Paris. The estate is run by Nathalie and Romaric with the support of their two children, who have expanded the business from 2,500 to approximately 25,000 bottles a year.
Vineyards and Terroir
The estate has 30 plots with a total area of almost 4 hectares, located in the municipalities of Charly-sur-Marne, Crouttes-sur-Marne, Nanteuil-sur-Marne and Villiers-Saint-Denis. The grapes are grown using agriculture raisonnée (balanced farming), which provides a diversity of flavours and the possibility of subtle blends.
Winemaking and Philosophy
Leclère-Torrens is a récoltant manipulateur, which means they grow, vinify and bottle their own grapes. The philosophy focuses on tradition and authenticity, with the aim of surprising customers with natural and exceptional products. The winemakers strive for balanced champagnes that reflect the richness and finesse of the local terroir.
Champagnes
The range includes seven different cuvées, including:
- PurMalys: A Champagne Brut and Blanc de Blancs.
- Ephémère: A Blanc de Noirs made from 100% Meunier.
- Other versions include Brut Nature and Rosé.
The champagnes are priced under 20 euros and are available from the cellar (13 rue de la Marne) or online. The cellar is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 18:00 and on Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00.
