History The origins of the house lie with Claire Simone Geoffroy, born in 1922, who married Jean-Louis Lasseaux in La Neuville-aux-Larris in 1949. Their son Philippe Lasseaux (born in 1956) expanded the business and launched the first bottle of "Champagne Jean Lasseaux" in 1977; the current name "Champagne Lasseaux et Fils" was adopted in 2010. The house is currently run by the 3rd generation, brothers Baptiste and Vincent Lasseaux.
Vineyards and Terroir The vineyards cover approximately 11.40 hectares (about 28 acres) spread over 30 plots in La Neuville-aux-Larris, Cuchery and Belval-sous-Châtillon, among others. The soil is chalky with clay, sand and silt, which provides freshness and complexity. The grape varieties are dominated by Meunier (80%), followed by Chardonnay (20%) and Pinot Noir (20%), with the vines averaging 30 to 40 years of age.
Winemaking and Sustainability The house practises sustainable and high-quality environmentally friendly farming (Haute Valeur Environnementale). Innovative technologies such as hydraulic tractors and weather stations are used to optimise quality and make the work easier. Vines of 25 to 30 years are regarded as the peak for quality, while older plots are reassured.
Champagnes The portfolio includes various cuvées with a focus on terroir expression:
- Match Play: A Brut Millésime 2016 consisting of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Meunier.
- Circuit Boisé: A Millésime 2015 with 60% Meunier and 40% Pinot Noir.
- L'Étoffe des Grands: A cuvée that reflects the ambition and character of the brothers, with the rooster as its totem animal.
