Jean Baillette-Prudhomme is a family estate in Trois-Puits, on the slopes of the Montagne de Reims, with a vineyard classified Premier Cru. Jean Baillette was the fourth generation of winegrowers; after his sudden death, his wife Marie-France and daughters Laureen and Justine carried on the business. Marie-France oversees the estate, while Laureen looks after the vineyard, the winemaking, the cellar work and sales. The estate is a member of the association Les Fa'Bulleuses de Champagne.
Method The champagnes are made exclusively from grapes from the estate's own vineyard on chalk. A hallmark is the high proportion of reserve wines in the blends. Pressing is done on a traditional wooden Coquard press. The bottles age for a long time in cellars carved into the chalk 14 metres underground, which allows the cuvées to receive a low dosage.
Champagnes
- Brut Réserve: one third each of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with 50% reserve wine
- Rosé de Saignée from old Pinot Noir vines
- Memoris: 100% Pinot Noir from a réserve perpétuelle, a tribute to patriarch Maurice Baillette
- Brut Nature, with no dosage
- Héritage: 100% Chardonnay, 12 months in oak barrels
Cellar visits with tasting are available by appointment.
