Jacques Busin is a family estate in Verzenay, a 100% grand cru village in the Montagne de Reims. The family has owned vineyards since the 17th century and has made its own champagnes since 1902; the estate is now run by the fourth generation. Since 2006, Emmanuel Busin, son of Jacques, has been at the helm. The estate is a member of the Vignerons Indépendants.
Vineyards The vineyards lie mainly in Verzenay, and also in Verzy, Sillery, Ambonnay and Mailly-Champagne, all grand cru. All cuvées can therefore claim a grand cru origin. The estate practises sustainable, reasoned viticulture and is certified HVE and VDC (Viticulture Durable en Champagne).
Method The grapes are hand-picked and vinified plot by plot in small vats. Reserve wines from earlier harvests safeguard the house style, which is passed down from father to son.
Champagnes
- Brut Tradition (70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay), also as Demi-Sec, and a Rosé of 100% Pinot Noir
- Millésime, aged at least five years, and Cuvée Vieilles Vignes from vines over 60 years old
- Marthe Deligny, Grand Millésime (aged at least 10 years, numbered) and the single plot Les Potences in Verzenay
