Émile Leclère is a family business of récoltants-manipulants in Mardeuil, two kilometres from Épernay in the Vallée de la Marne. The craft has been handed down within the family since 1832, now over five generations.
Vineyards The estate covers 13 hectares, mostly on the slopes of Mardeuil. Meunier plays the leading role, complemented by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Approach Everything is done in-house, without outside contractors:
- Harvest: the grapes are picked by hand and pressed in the estate's own new pressing centre.
- Vinification: in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for freshness and in oak foudres for complexity and depth.
- Blending: the vins clairs are tasted one by one and assessed by three people.
- Tirage and disgorgement: with the estate's own machines, so that each lot is disgorged at the right moment.
Champagnes The range is divided into two lines:
- Gamme Originelle: 100% Meunier, Brut Réserve, Brut Nature, Blanc de Blancs and Brut Rosé.
- Gamme Expérience: Cuvée du Bicentenaire, Les Longues Sentes, 5 Générations and Millésime.
The house also makes a ratafia.
