Champagne Éléonore is an independent champagne house based in Oger, a Grand Cru village in the Côte des Blancs, founded in 1965 by Bernard Dzieciuck. The second generation is formed by Didier Dzieciuck (chef de cave) and Carole Tranchard, who run the estate with a philosophy of experimentation and questioning champagne conventions.
The vineyards cover 13.30 hectares and consist entirely of Chardonnay, planted on chalky and loamy soils. A distinctive detail is the presence of plots at the edge of the forest, which give the wines a unique complexity and aromatic expression that differ from typically exposed terroirs.
Didier Dzieciuck's method is based on personal observation rather than dogma, with a focus on exploring the limits of Chardonnay. This results in champagnes with low dosage and a strong expression of terroir, with the house motto "Je défie donc je suis" (I challenge, therefore I am) reflecting the independent approach.
The wine list mainly comprises Blancs de Blancs Grand Crus with specific cuvées:
- Gageure: A vintage blend from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger, known for its ageing potential.
- Ambigramme: A cuvée of Grand Cru grapes from Oger, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Avize, characterised by tension and mineral freshness.
- Mystère 9: A non-vintage wine that is a blend of nine different vintages, resulting in a complex and lively wine.
- Buveur de Blancs: An accessible Grand Cru from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger with floral and citrus expression.
- Rêverie causée causerie rêvée: A Rosé de Saignée, unique to this house, made from Pinot Noir grapes from the Marne Valley.
