Champagne Daniel Gerbaux is a grower champagne house based in Chézy-sur-Marne (Marne Valley), about an hour from Disneyland Paris. The house combines centuries-old tradition with modern, sustainable practices.

History

The family history begins in 1901, when Emile Gerbaux planted the first vines. In 1940 his son Robert became a prisoner of war of the Germans; after his liberation he resumed the work and continued the family harvest. In the 1960s Robert was a co-founder of the cooperative COVAMA, together with Champagne Pannier. Originally the wine was consumed locally, but this evolved into the sale of bottled champagne under the Champagne Gerbaux label. Today the heritage is continued by the fourth generation, led by Daniel and his son Romain.

Vineyards and Wines

The vineyards lie on the hills of the Marne Valley, where the chalky clay soil and the climate are ideal for the three classic Champagne grape varieties:

Chardonnay

The house opts for a homogeneous blend of the best grapes to create an elegant wine with fine bubbles. The champagnes are sold under the names Champagne Gerbaux and Champagne Daniel Gerbaux.

Approach and Sustainability

The family places great value on respect for nature and cultural practices. Their vineyards are certified under the "Viticulture Durable en Champagne" (Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne) label. The team devotes painstaking attention to the work in the vineyard all year round, from autumn to spring, to guarantee exceptional grapes.
