Chanoine Frères describes itself as the second-oldest champagne house in history. Pierre Chanoine founded it in 1730 on the Faubourg de la Folie (today's Avenue de Champagne) in Épernay, where the house had the town's first champagne cellars dug. In 1830 Chanoine created one of the very first paper champagne labels, and in 1991 the house moved to the Allée du Vignoble in Reims, building one of the first above-ground cellars in Champagne. Enguerrand Baijot has been president since 2023.
Style The blends are built mainly around Pinot Noir, largely sourced from the Côte des Bar, complemented by Chardonnay and Meunier.
