Champagne Brigitte Beaufort is a family business founded in 2008 in Bouzy (Montagne de Reims) by Brigitte Beaufort, who, after her husband's death in 2003, decided to run her 4 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards herself. Although she does not come from the champagne world, she obtained her winegrower's diploma and acquired full ownership of the vineyards, which are divided into 14 plots in Bouzy, Ambonnay and Tours-sur-Marne.
The approach is geared towards extreme quality and minimalism: the house produces only 6,000 bottles a year (while 40,000 would be possible) by selecting only the best grapes, the "Cœur de Galippe". The wines are kept at least 7 years on the rack (sur latte) before being disgorged. Brigitte follows sustainable practices with HVE and VDC certification, and applies organic farming on a third of the estate, while the remaining must is often sold to large houses.
The champagnes are exclusively Grand Cru, millésimé (vintage) and come from the terroir of Bouzy. Since 2022 the bottles have borne Brigitte's personal label, including numbers, composition, disgorgement date and the initials of her children, Anne-Louise and Pierre-Herbert. Some well-known cuvées are:
- Passion: An Extra Brut Grand Cru (e.g. 2013), mainly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
- Amour: A Grand Cru millésimé (e.g. 2012), known for its depth and complexity.
- Harmonie: A unique Rosé (Extra Brut or Brut) created by blending Pinot Noir from Bouzy Rouge (Côteaux Champenois) with white Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
- Liberté: A Brut Nature (zero dosage) Grand Cru millésimé.
- Bouzy Rouge: A red wine (Côteaux Champenois) from 100% Pinot Noir (e.g. 2018).
Visitors can visit the estate at 25 rue de Tours-sur-Marne, 51150 Bouzy, where access to the tasting rooms is free and organised visits with a tasting of three millésimes are offered.
