Champagne Bourgeois-Diaz is a family business in Crouttes-sur-Marne (Vallée de la Marne), run by Jérôme and Charlotte Bourgeois-Diaz, who took over the estate together in 2016. Jérôme Bourgeois, a fourth-generation winegrower, returned to the cellar in 2000 after a career in industrial supplies and harvested his first grapes in 2001.
- Vineyards: The estate covers approximately 6.8 hectares with a layout that is unique for the region: 3.5 ha Pinot Meunier, 2 ha Pinot Noir and 1 ha Chardonnay. The vineyards lie on clay-chalk soils and have an average age of 35 to 40 years, spread over plots in Crouttes-sur-Marne, Nanteuil-sur-Marne and Villiers-Saint-Denis.
- Approach: Viticulture has been organic since 2009 and certified biodynamic (Demeter) since 2014/2015. Synthetic pesticides and artificial fertilisers are avoided entirely; the estate opts for manual work, small machines to prevent soil compaction, and plant-based decoctions. The must is pressed in a traditional Coquard press for gentle extraction, and vinification takes place partly in stainless steel, partly in wooden barrels (up to 35-45% for certain cuvées) and concrete. Dosages are low, often Brut Nature (0-4 g/l).
- Champagnes: The range consists of eight champagnes and a red wine (Coteaux Champenois). Notable cuvées include:
- BD’M: 100% Pinot Meunier, often from old vines.
- BD’3C: A blend of three grape varieties (Meunier, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay).
- BD’N: Blanc de Noirs (Pinot Noir and Meunier).
- Cuvée B: Blanc de Blancs from 100% Chardonnay from the plot "Le Temple".
- Cuvée RS: Rosé de Saignée from 100% Meunier.
- 3C Collection: A premium single-vintage blend, aged entirely in oak barrels.
Visitors can visit the estate at 43 Grande Rue, 02310 Crouttes-sur-Marne, where accommodation is also available.
