Champagne Boerl & Kroff
Champagne house in Champagne.
Champagne Boërl & Kroff is a rare champagne from the Aube, made in Urville in collaboration with Michel Drappier. It is released exclusively in magnums.
- History: The project was conceived by Stéphane Sésé and a friend, who wanted a champagne with the impact of great Burgundy and Bordeaux wines. The first magnum came from the 1995 harvest.
- Vineyards and terroir: The grapes come from three small plots near Urville, planted mainly with old-vine Pinot Noir. The blend is largely Pinot Noir, completed with some Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
- Approach and style: Work is traditional, with gravity, slow fermentation and little sulphur. A vintage is made only in good years, in small numbers of magnums.
- Cuvées: Alongside the vintage Brut, the B de Boërl & Kroff has existed since 1997 for wine that does not meet the strict criteria for the vintage.
