Champagne Bernard Figuet is a family business based in Saulchery (Marne valley), founded by Robert Figuet, who produced his first champagnes in oak barrels in 1947. The Figuet name goes back to 1436, but winegrowing activity only began in the 1930s, after which the business was taken over by his son Bernard in 1960 and by grandson Eric Figuet (oenologist) in 1990. Since 2019 son Maxime has also been part of the fourth generation.
The vineyards cover 14 hectares with approximately 30 plots on chalky soils with a southern/south-eastern exposure, which ensures optimal ripening. The business produces approximately 120,000 bottles per year (2,500 hectolitres) and uses the three traditional champagne grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Since 2010 pressing and vinification have taken place in modern facilities that combine tradition and technology.
The house style focuses on Brut and Blanc de Blancs champagnes that are meant to create emotional experiences. The available cuvées include:
- Cuvée 100% Meunier
- Cuvée 100% Chardonnay (Blanc de Blancs)
- Cuvée 100% Pinot Noir
- Cuvée Subtilité, Charme, Pureté, Délicatesse and Gourmandise
The champagnes undergo a minimum ageing of 2 to 3 years before being decanted and packed. The address is 144 Route Nationale, 02310 Saulchery, and the cellar is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00-12:00 and 14:00-18:00.
