Villenauxe-la-Grande lies in the Aube department, on the southern edge of the Coteaux du Sézannais, south-west of Sézanne. The Côte de Sézanne forms a southward continuation of the Côte des Blancs. The village has no cru classification.
- Vineyards: around Villenauxe-la-Grande and neighbouring Bethon, chardonnay predominates; in Villenauxe, pinot noir is also grown. The harvest in the Sézannais often begins somewhat earlier than elsewhere.
- Character: the champagnes are ripe, fruity and approachable, often with a clear role for chardonnay.
- Producers: the village is home to Barrat-Masson, among others, a small-scale organic business with mainly chardonnay and zero-dosage cuvées. Frédéric Torchet and Wirtz also make champagne from vineyards in and around Villenauxe.
The small town is home to the church of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul.
