Urville lies in the Côte des Bar, in the Aube department, in the Bar-sur-Aubois south-west of Bar-sur-Aube and not far from the former abbey of Clairvaux. The village has no cru classification.
- Vineyards: pinot noir dominates, planted on limestone-marl slopes, alongside chardonnay.
- Character: the champagnes are ripe, full and fruity, with the power of pinot noir from the Aube.
- Producers: Urville is home to the family house of Drappier. The family settled here in the early nineteenth century and still runs the house; the vineyards around the village are planted predominantly with pinot noir and are certified organic. Coessens also makes champagne here.
- History: Drappier's vaulted cellars date back to the Cistercian monks of Clairvaux, who had a cellar built in Urville in the twelfth century. The prestige cuvées and large-format bottles now age there.
