Talus-Saint-Prix is a small village in the valley of the Petit Morin, a tributary of the Marne, on the border between the Côte des Blancs and the Sézannais (Marne department). The commune has no cru status.
The vineyards lie on the Coteaux du Petit Morin, a south-facing slope above the river. Cold air and mist from the marshes make the slopes susceptible to spring frost. For this reason the growers here have traditionally chosen the later-budding Pinot Meunier, which makes up more than seventy per cent of the plantings.
- Producers: Jeaunaux-Robin is the best-known estate and named its cuvée Le Talus de Saint Prix after the village; a Meunier-rich blend with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
