Vieille France is a champagne house founded in 1860 in Avize (Côte des Blancs) by Léon Le Brun, not in Magenta. Since 2003 the house has been run by the Rapeneau family, under the leadership of the award-winning chef de caves Christophe Rapeneau.
- Vineyards & Terroir: The house is based in the prestigious village of Avize, known for its chalky soils and exceptional Chardonnay vineyards. The champagnes are a blend of Grands Crus and Premier Cru vineyards, including those of Bouzy and Ambonnay for the rosé.
- Working methods: The champagnes undergo ageing of at least 3 years in the cellars. The wine is blended by hand, showing respect for the natural vinification process. The house style is characterised by the iconic "bouteille pomme" (apple bottle), inspired by 18th-century flasks.
- Champagnes: The range includes the classic Brut, Blanc de Blancs (mainly Chardonnay) and Blanc de Noir (100% Pinot Noir). The Brut Rosé is made from Chardonnay (40%), Pinot Noir (45%) and 15% red wine from Bouzy and Ambonnay. The champagnes are generally non-vintage and dosed between 10.9 and 12.5 g/litre.
