Champagne Thill is a Récoltant-Manipulant located in Verzy, a Grand Cru village in the Champagne region, ideally situated between Reims and Épernay. The house is known for its Grand Cru champagnes, with only 17 of the approximately 320 local producers allowed to carry this prestigious label.
History
The progenitor Jean-Adam Thill was born in Luxembourg in 1827 and later settled in France. His son Dominique took the initiative to settle in Verzy and build up a small vineyard holding. In 1953 Fernand Thill began selling the wines under his own name. The passion was passed on to his daughter Marie-Thérèse, and today Thomas is the guardian of the family expertise.
Vineyards and Working Methods
The Thill family has developed its vineyards with great care in Verzy and Verzenay. The champagnes are characterised by a balance between freshness and power, with an emphasis on elegance, aromas and minerality. Long storage in the cellar contributes to the roundness and the fine, lively bubbles of the wines.
Champagnes
The estate offers 6 different wines, including:
- Brut Tradition Grand Cru 'Verzy': A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with 12.5% alcohol.
- Blanc de Blancs: Made from 100% Chardonnay.
- Other styles such as Brut, Demi-Sec, Réserve and Rosé.
The champagnes are praised for their powerful taste and liveliness, and go well with pork, oily fish or seafood.
