Royer Jean-Jacques & Sébastien is a family business and récoltant-manipulant in Landreville, a small village in the Côte des Bar (Aube). It was founded in 1974 by Jean-Jacques and Catherine Royer, who decided to set up their own estate and work their own vines. Their son Sébastien studied viticulture and oenology and joined the family business in 2002.
Vineyards The estate has around 5.5 hectares in Landreville and Loches-sur-Ource, planted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Most of the vineyard work is done by the family themselves and the harvest is by hand. The estate is HVE certified.
Method The grapes are pressed at the estate, with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay always pressed separately. After the first fermentation and blending, tirage takes place around January or February. The champagnes age on the lees for longer than the legal minimum of 15 months; riddling is then done on pupitres or in gyropalettes.
